34th MPA-Seminar and VGB-Symposium "Materials and Components Behaviour in Energy & Plant Technology"

in conjunction with the MPA-IfW-NIMS-Workshop "Advances in High-Temperature Materials for Future High Efficiency Power Plants" on October 9 and 10, 2008 in Stuttgart

This year’s 34th MPA-Seminar will be carried out in conjunction with VGB PowerTech e.V. (the European Technical Association for Power and Heat Generation), D-Essen and FDBR (Association of Steam Boiler, Pressure Vessel and Piping Manufacturers), D-Duesseldorf.

This year the seminar will once more take place in conjunction with the already traditional exchange of experiences with the Japanese National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) on the subject of “Advances in High Temperature Materials for High Efficiency Power Plants” under participation of re-nowned international researchers and research institutes respectively.
The seminar will cover the whole range of topics dealing with the operation and behaviour of materials and components under operational stress as well as their manufacture and processing techniques in the broad field of energy and plant technology.

The main focus is on optimizations regarding materials and processing to achieve an increase in efficiency and further reduce pollutant emissions as well as the related concepts of lifetime assessment in consideration of the specific material behaviour and damage mechanisms respectively. In this respect, survey and assessment methods are of particular practical interest.

As every year, the seminar offers a good opportunity to promote the international exchange of ideas and experience in the above-mentioned fields, to intensify cooperative efforts and to maintain personal contacts.  

A guided tour to the MPA facilities is planned for Friday afternoon.
