Power Plant - Grid

European and national activities directly at the interface between power plants and the grid, together with changes in political targets and in the grid technology and operation are having direct repercussions on the power plants (generation facilities).

The role of VGB is to react for technical issues in consultation processes or assistance in opinion-forming processes at the responsible bodies.

These challenges were the reason for the constitution of the EWG Power Plant - Grid in February 2011. The strategies and the concept have been developed. Current actions are needed especially in:

  • European Network Codes: common opinion-forming of the generating companies to the Framework Guidelines of ACER and to the Network Codes of Entso-E in close cooperation with EURELECTRIC
  • Studies regarding the system stability power plant - grid at increasing generation of intermitting energy sources (solar, wind) in a research project, cooperating with the Universities Rostock and Stuttgart
  • Contracts at the interface power plant grid, i.e. Redispatch, Provision of reactive power: Formation of processes on national level and synopsis beyond the European status
  • Reaction on German settings of laws and regulations, i.e. EnWG-Novelle, stipulations and consultations procedures of BNetzA

In individual cases for the pending topics one has to decide, if an individual VGB position wether have to be communicated to the relevant bodies, or cooperation with and contributions to comments by EURELECTRIC or BDEW are more appropriate.
