The guideline applies to:

− Superheat turbines in power plants,

− Saturated steam turbines in power plants,

− Feed pump driving turbines,

− Industrial steam turbines.

The scope of the devices shall be adapted to the importance and function of the plant. A minimum scope is mentioned in the individual sections. The guideline determines the relevant devices only with respect to their effect, but not regarding the information carrier. In case of equal effectiveness it is possible to select between mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic or electrical systems. Information data shall be stored according to their purpose, especially the data required for lifetime monitoring. The storage systems should allow synchronisation, if information about one event is stored on different data storage media (strip charts, magnetic tapes, magnetic discs, etc.). The devices have to be regularly checked with due care. The test interval depends on the structure and operating mode of the plant. The intervals for the checks recommended in section 10.2 may serve as an orientation guide. Information in this guideline does not replace the operating instructions issued by the manufacturer.
