Launch of Technology Platform on Zero Emission Fossil Fuel Power Plants

December 1, 2005 in Brussels, followed by the SESEM-CFT Conference

Dear Madam or Sir,

I would kindly like to remind you on the launch of the Technology Platform on Zero Emission Fossil Fuel Power Plants which will take place in Brussels on 1 December 2005. The event will be opened by the Commissioner of Research, Mr. Potocnik. Representatives from the EU presidency, European Parliament, Industry, Research and NGOs will also be present.

The Advisory Council for the Platform was put together in June 2005 and consists of 25 leading industrialists, researchers and NGOs from across Europe. The first task of the Advisory Council was to develop a vision for the platform which will be presented during the launch. More information on the Technology Platform can be found at:

The launch will be followed by the SESEM-CFT Conference "Clean Pathways for Fossil Fuels - The Post Kyoto Engagement", organised by the SESEM-CFT project in collaboration with the POWERCLEAN network, to which you are also invited.

The SESEM-CFT Conference deals with the status and the market opportunities for European Clean Fossil Technologies (CFT). Furthermore the conference will highlight European Post-Kyoto environmental obligations and R&D and Demonstration needs for European CFT on their pathway to Zero Emission beyond Kyoto (2012). The launch will start on 1 December at 8:30 and finish at 14:00, with the conference following afterwards ending Friday 2 December at 14:00 after lunch.
