This year’s annual international ISOE (Information System on Occupational Exposure) Symposium was held for the first time in Germany. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA), the CEPN (the ISOE European Technical Centre) and VGB PowerTech jointly organised the 2006 ISOE Symposium, in Essen lasting from 15th to 17th March 2006. 150 radiation protection experts from 23 countries took part in the three-day event. The radiation protection professionals from nuclear power plants, authorities, contractors and manufacturers had a very fruitful international exchange of experience on current topics of radiation protection in workshops and technical papers. The successful event was accompanied by a technical exhibition with 12 exhibitors.
