> List of New Power Plants in Europe: Update July 2010 < The list New Power Plants comprises power plants in planning and under construction in Europe. Energy sources like gas, hard coal, lignite, wind, water, waste etc. are considered. Based on the list, the planned total output (MW) and the portions of the sources of energy (MW) can be determined. Due to political and economic decisions, the list lives with further planning measures and with cancellations. The current list is available in the member area for download:

> Revision of BREF-LCP Document < The revision of the BVT-data sheet on large combustion plants (BREF-LCP) progresses. The revision status can be followed from the information provided in the closed user group "BREF-LCP Group" on the VGB internet site. The adjusted current file named xx_xx-ii-EURELECTRIC-combined-version-yy (x=chapter nr., i=index, y=version nr.) is always available on top of the relevant chapter. 1) Review of the Community Strategy concerning Mercury

In June, 2010 a draft final report on the status of implementation of mercury reduction measures in the EU was published. In this report, it was found that in particular the implementation of IPPC and LCP Directives have not reduced the mercury emissions as provided. It was therefore recommended that the Industrial Emissions Directive, in conjunction with the application of Best Available Technology (BAT) as soon as possible have to be implemented and furthermore possible limits on mercury emissions have to be defined.

EURELECTRIC and VGB have prepared a common statement on the report.

2) VGB Job Market: Current Vacancies

The VGB Job Market is offering prospective persons the possibility to develop their career in the range of power and heat generation. You can find current vacancies on our homepage.

3) Research Project "Pressurized Gas Scrubbing for CO2 from Flue Gas by Membrane Contactors" Completed

The research project "Improvement of Pressurized Gas Scrubbing for CO2 from Flue Gas by Membrane Contactors and Simulation of Optimized Efficiency in Power Plant Processes with Postcombustion Decarbonization" was successfully completed.

Membrane contactors have been shown in principle to be suitable for use during the CO2-gas scrubbing. Their high flexibility in the L/G ratio as well as operational reliability was demonstrated. However, further development work in particular with regard to the selection of the membrane and also the modular design is necessary.
