> First Draft of the Revised BREF LCP Published < On June 27, 2013, the European IPPC Bureau (EIPPCB) published the first draft of the revised "Best Available Techniques Reference Document for Large Combustion Plants" (BREF-LCP). At the same time the members of the Technical Working Group (TWG) were invited to check this paper and to submit their comments to the Bureau by September 30, 2013, at the latest. During this phase of annotation VGB as a member of the TWG will involve his experts and committees in this process as it has been realized successfully in the past. This ensures a high level of technical expertise during the revision process. If you have any request for modification on some specific issues please send them to the responsible VGB-expert. 1) Realignment of the VGB Technical Committee "Civil Engineering"

The VGB Technical Committee "Civil Engineering" starts a realignment with new Working Panels. Main topics and processing will be focussed on recent demands. A new Working Panel "Constructional Concepts/Specific Civil Solutions" essentially is going to continue the work of the previous Working Panel "Stacks, Chimneys and other Special Constructions". A new Working Panel "Structural Maintenance/Condition Monitoring" has to be constituted. Interested experts are invited to participate.

2) Call for Papers - VGB Conference "Steam Generators, Fluidized Bed Firing Systems and Cogeneration Plants 2014"

The VGB's biennial conference "Steam Generators, Fluidized Bed Firing Systems and Cogeneration Plants" will take place in Weimar/Germany on March 26/27, 2014. The conference will be a forum to discuss new and existing technologies as well as their practical use.

3) Power Plants in Competition, Civil Engineering for Power Plants - VGB PowerTech Journal 7/2013

Main topics of the July issue are: Flexibility requirements for fossil-fired power plants to support the growth of the share of renewable energies; Structural health monitoring and lifecycle-management for civil engineering constructions in power plants and industrial facilities; 9 percent-chromium steels P91 und P92 in German power plants - from 1991 to the present day; A new method to predict and evaluate fuel consumption as function of load and operation mode for the Avedore 2 plant.
