On November 15, 2012, the Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Yildiz and the Federal Minister of Economics and Technology Rösler signed a joint declaration of cooperation on energy. In order to fill this cooperation with life a Turkish-German Energy Forum will be set up. The different stakeholders of the energy sector get together in five working groups in order to promote collaborative projects and investments. Together with the German Lignite Industry Association the VGB coordinates the activities of the working group "conventional power stations, modernization of power stations and lignite extraction" (AG III) on the German side.
On January 30, 2013, a preparatory meeting of German energy supply companies and power plant technology companies took place at VGB, also participated by a representative of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. The participants covered the complete power generation value-chain from planning and engineering via supply of components up to power plant operation. More than 15 companies vividly discussed the possible topics for the first meeting of AG III. Reliability and performance in addition to financing questions and lignite extraction are on top of the agenda from the German point of view. The first Turkish-German Energy Forum is supposed to take place in Ankara in the first half of 2013.

The VGB Working Panel "Civil Engineering for Nuclear Power Plants" has released a new VGB-Standard "Civil Engineering for Power Plants" (Edition 2012), German version. The English version will be available in the near future. The VGB-Standard is especially based on the experiences gained from the execution and operation of the German "NPP-KONVOI-Series" as well as it is following legal technical developments. Essential conclusions from the execution of the new EPR-type being under construction in Finland (TVO plant OL3) have been integrated.

Data reconciliation is frequently discussed in connection with IT systems for optimization of technical processes in industry. Data reconciliation as set out in VDI 2048 is indeed an interesting and technically complex process that can significantly improve the quality of operational process data and the indicators based on those data. The technical and organizational conditions to be fulfilled in the implementation of this process are however less familiar. Publications on practical experience are to date rare, mainly originating from manufacturers of the relevant software tools.
The VGB-Standard VGB-S-009-S-00;2012-03.EN is intended to close that gap. Its purpose is in particular to present and explain the method of data reconciliation to the plant operator as a modern, proven opportunity to improve operational processes.

The VGB-Standard "Electrical Generating Unit Protection" was newly compiled by the VGB project group of the same name. It continues the "Guidelines for electric generating unit protection" issued by the VDEW in 1985, and integrates new possibilities and requirements with the application of multi-functional digital protection devices. Due to the adaptation to new norms and guidelines a new edition became necessary.
