1) Nuon Magnum IGCC Power plant

Leading Dutch utility company Nuon has chosen Eemshaven in the Dutch province of Groningen as the location for its big new power plant (1,200 megawatts).
As well as coal and biomass Nuon wants to use gas in the new power plant, to be able to react flexibly to new developments in the fuel market. Nuon expects the necessary permits for the Eemshaven location to be issued in the spring of 2007. The first production of electricity is scheduled for 2011.

2) First Commercial Solar-thermal Power Plant in Europe

The construction of the solar-thermal power plant Andasol 1 started in southern Spain on July 30, 2006. The plant will have a capacity of 50 MW. New high temperature thermal storage systems (molten salt) will be tested. After commissioning in approximately two years the Andasol 1 plant will annually generate 179 GWh. The solar-thermal power plant has been developed by Solar Millennium AG, based in Erlangen, Germany.

4) EU Commission adopted BAT Reference Document "Economics and Cross Media Effects"

On July 4, 2006, the EU Commission has officially adopted the Best Available Technique Reference Document "Economics and Cross Media Effects" (BREF ECM), agreed version of May 2005 without changes. Now competent authorities may refer to this document. With the BREF ECM economic aspects have to be regarded for application of all BREFS.

5) VGB Guideline for Ordering High-Capacity Steam Boilers

The European Single Market required the setting-up of procurement procedures aiming at the unification of competition rules in order to avoid the discrimination of individual countries or tenderers.
The revised guideline R101He (Edition 2005) combines the former VGB Guideline "Ordering High-Capacity Steam Boilers" and the European Standard EN 45510-3-1, "Guideline for Procurement of Power Station Equipment. Boilers. Water Tube Boilers."

The revised VGB guideline bundles the essence of many year's experiences with the ordering of boilers and boiler components. It is divided into two main sections:
* The technical contract terms contain proposals for the technical specification in due consideration and proper use of the guidelines.
* The commercial contract terms describe in detail commercial, contractual and legal elements.
