The European Commission proposes to present, in 2007, a European Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET-Plan). To prepare the SET-Plan, the European Commission has launched a public consultation. An on-line questionnaire can be filled in till 13th of May 2007.

A survey of over 500 key energy decision makers from across Europe has found a strong appetite for the development of CO2 capture and storage technologies - abbreviated to CCS - in Europe as a way of reducing emissions of carbon dioxide. The survey was funded by the European Commission, and directed at the energy industry, researchers, government, environmental groups and parliamentarians from 28 European nations participated.

EURELECTRIC, VGB and RECS-International jointly organised an international conference entitled "Renewable Energy in the Internal Energy Market - The Way Forward" for the second time, which took place on April 18, 2007 in Brussels. More than 100 delegates attended the event to consider questions concerning economic, political and technical aspects of the use of renewable energy sources at a European level.

The new VGB guideline R165e, Recommendations for the Improvement of H2 Safety in Hydrogen-cooled Generators, is a continuation of the VDEW guideline published in 1989 under the same name. It has been updated to include the current standard for the installation and operation of hydrogen-cooled generators, DIN EN 60034-3 (Rotating electrical machines - part 3: Specific requirements for cylindrical rotor synchronous machines), edition 2006-02.
