> Revision of BREF-LCP Document < The revision of the BVT-data sheet on large combustion plants (BREF-LCP) progresses. It is the target to include all changes of the BREF document till the end of March. The revision status can be followed from the information provided in the closed user group "BREF-LCP Group" on the VGB internet site. > List of New Power Plants in Europe: Update February 2010 < The list New Power Plants comprises power plants in planning and under construction in Europe. Energy sources like gas, hard coal, lignite, wind, water, waste etc. are considered. Based on the list, the planned total output (MW) and the portions of the sources of energy (MW) can be determined. Due to political and economic decisions, the list lives with further planning measures and with cancellations. The current list is available in the member area for download:

1) Coal Combustion Products and REACH - Update 3/2010 - News for Cenospheres

On June 1, 2007, the REACH-Regulation (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) entered into force. By this, also each producer or importer of coal combustion products (CCPs) has to register the marketed or imported substances at the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) situated in Helsinki.

Update information (status 3/2010) regarding the status of specific CCPs (especially for cenospheres) are available with the following link:
http://www.ecoba.com/reach_ccps.html

2) EUROCOALASH 2010

On May 27/28, 2010, the EUROCOALASH 2010 conference will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark. The international conference EUROCOALASH is to highlight the importance of using Coal Combustion Products (CCPs) in Europe. The conference will deal with the legal and practical issues for the production of Coal Combustion Products in power plants and its beneficial use in the construction industries, e.g. cement-, concrete-, asphalt-, plasterboard-, road building- and mining industry. The conference is addressed to representatives of the power plant operators and CCP producers, the power plant and construction industry, as well as to European and national authorities, certification bodies, universities and others.

4) VGB Brochure "Value-adding by Geographical Data Management in Power Plants and Other Industrial Facilities"

Operators of power plants and other industrial facilities are periodically confronted with technical and economical challenges. They need a full and reliable general survey of all facilities, systems and processes to manage it. The presented brochure summarises the experiences of the members of the VGB Working Panel "Geographical Data Management/Surveying" in the VGB Committee "Civil Engineering" and should offer support to the reader to manage his own geodata.

The VGB-Brochure (in German only) is available for free download as PDF file:

5) Chemistry in Power plants - VGB PowerTech Journal 3/2010

Main topics of the March issue are: Technological Process and Current Levels of Quality in the Construction of New Power Plants - Requirements and Reality; Challenges to the Technical Quality Assurance - From the Erection of Power Plants to Ongoing Plant Operation; Overview on CCS Technology and Results of Vattenfall's Oxyfuel Pilot Plant; Optimisation of Sampling System for a Faster Start-Up of Cycling Power Plants.
