Information for Members

News

> PEPP - Platform of Experiences with Power Plants <
VGB has implemented the information system PEPP "Platform of Experiences with Power Plants" and starts with the input of Cases (experience reports). PEPP has been introduced to collect the experiences discussed in the VGB committees to make them more accessible for the ordinary VGB members. The focus of these cases is on the benefit for the VGB members. All ordinary members are kindly requested to participate in the exchange of experiences.
The web user interface is multilingual taking into account international VGB members' demands. Currently we offer the languages Dutch, English, French, German, Italian and Portuguese. PEPP is available for all ordinary VGB members free of charge.

1) European Network Codes for Generators - Publication process is Entering into Final Phase

The concluding European legislative procedure of the "Network Codes for Generators (RfG - Requirements for Generators)" will on short term start. From VGB's point of view, in the draft provided try the European Commission requirements are remaining, which are burdening the generators unbalanced. The debates on European level were continued.
VGB is supporting the member companies in arguing towards the national representatives through provision of a statement, which has been drafted in cooperation with Eurelectric.

2) Emission Limits for Medium Combustion Plants

The European Commission has issued a proposal for a Directive on the limitation of emissions of certain pollutants into the air from medium combustion plants, dated 18 December 2013. In the framework of the Clean Air Programme emissions of NOx, SO2 and dust into the air from plants between 1 and 50 MW (th) shall be limited. More stringent emission limit values shall apply in zones not complying with the EU air quality limit values. The associations are tracking this topic intensely.

The Directive and the annexes are available here:

3) VGB Quality Award 2014 - Call for Proposal

VGB invites all ordinary members of VGB PowerTech to propose a supplier, who has delivered a project of an outstanding quality, for the VGB Quality Award 2014. The VGB Quality Award has been established to increase the awareness for the commercial value of quality and to highlight examples of suppliers who have delivered extraordinary quality in services and products. The VGB Quality Award has been extended and is now covering all electricity and heat generation technologies - renewables, distributed generation, hydro, oil-, gas- and coal fired power stations - and all kind of projects - for new build, refurbishment, maintenance, or decommissioning.

4) VGB Safety and Health Award 2014 - Call for Proposals

VGB invites all ordinary members of VGB PowerTech to propose a partner (contractor) for the VGB Safety and Health Award 2014 who has delivered a project of an outstanding safety and health philosophy and implementation. The VGB Safety and Health Award has been established to increase the importance of Safety and Health among our members and partners (contractors). The VGB Safety and Health Award is covering all electricity and heat generation technologies - renewables, distributed generation, hydro, oil-, gas- and coal fired power stations - and all kind of projects - for new build, refurbishment, maintenance, or decommissioning.

5) VGB-TW104 "Reliability Indicators with KISSY"

A project group of the VGB European Working Group "Performance Indicators" supported by DNV KEMA developed a method to calculate reliability data from the VGB power plant information system KISSY. In the anonymized reliability data, the plant layout and several classes of plants (selected e.g. by plant age and type) have been taken into account.
The aim is to integrate the new method and reliability indicators into the Technical-scientific reports and in the KISSY database (online reports on demand) later in time with benefits such as optimization of the plant configuration, improved plant maintenance, less spare parts, etc.
