    The basic international standards for reference designation provide users with gen-erally applicable general rules and letter codes for main classes for the designation of technical objects and their documentation.

    The standard for power plants establishes sector-specific specifications based on the basic standards, and also includes options to enable application for different power plant types.

    The fulfilment of specific designation tasks and addressing of collections of infor-mation necessitates coding systems which establish a relationship between the ob-ject names and letter codes.

    For the designation of power plant systems, table 3 of IEC 81346-2 provides a framework for the designation of "infrastructure objects". This Guideline, VGB-S-821-00-EN, assigns the power-plant-specific systems to letter codes based on this framework.

    Die internationalen Grundnormen zur Referenzkennzeichnung bieten den Anwen-dern allgemeingültige Grundregeln und Kennbuchstaben für Hauptklassen zur Kenn-zeichnung von technischen Objekten und deren Dokumentation.

    Die Fachnorm für Kraftwerke trifft auf dieser Basis branchenbezogene Festlegungen, enthält aber ebenfalls noch Optionen, um die Anwendung für unterschiedliche Kraft-werkstypen möglich zu machen.

    Zur Erfüllung konkreter Kennzeichnungsaufgaben und Adressierung von Informa-tionszusammenstellungen sind Kodiersysteme erforderlich, die die Namen der Ob-jekte zu Kennbuchstaben in Beziehung setzen.

    Zur Kennzeichnung von Kraftwerkssystemen bietet DIN EN 81346-2 mit Tabelle 3 einen Rahmen zur Kennzeichnung von „Infrastrukturobjekten“. Auf dieser Basis erfolgte in der vorliegenden Richtlinie VGB-S-821-00 die Zuordnung der kraftwerkspezifischen Systeme zu Kennbuchstaben.

    Owing to the national and international standardization process, the KKS Identification System for Power Stations (hereinafter referred to as “KKS”) is being replaced by the RDS-PP® Reference Designation System for Power Plants based on DIN ISO 81346-10. Thus, RDS-PP® is thus considered to be a generally accepted good engineering practice and can be applied in planning, construction, operation and dismantling of energy supply plants and equipment as a an unambiguous identification system.

    Existing power plants with identification coding to KKS will not be re-coded to RDS-PP®. Consequently, it will be necessary to continue to apply the KKS system in the event of additions to existing plants and conversion measures, I&C retrofits etc.

    Durch den nationalen und internationalen Normungsprozess wird das Kraftwerk-Kennzeichen-System (nachfolgend KKS) durch das, auf DIN ISO 81346-10 basierende RDS-PP®, abgelöst. RDS-PP® gilt damit „als anerkannte Regel der Technik“ und kann bei der Planung, Errichtung, dem Betrieb und dem Rückbau von Anlagen der Energieversorgung ls eindeutiges Kennzeichnungssystem angewandt werden.

    Bestehende Kraftwerksanlagen, die mit KKS gekennzeichnet sind, werden nicht neu gekennzeichnet. Daraus entsteht die Notwendigkeit, bei Erweiterungen, Umbaumaßnahmen, leittechnischen Ertüchtigungen usw. weiterhin das KKS zu verwenden.
