The Technology Platform is a new instruments targeted to a better focus an the needs for the upcoming construction programm of new power plants in Europe. VGB and EURELECTRIC alongside EPSA and EUnited Turbines experts have been closely involved in the launch of a European Technology Platform to foster clean and efficient fossil fuel power generation.

Officially launched by the European Commission, the Platform brings together stakeholders from industry, government, NGOs and academia to jointly define a strategic research agenda, in order to focus European research on the necessary areas. It will define research priorities for improving the efficiencies of fossil-fuel power plants, and for the various options for carbon capture and storage. An Advisory Council for the Platform has been appointed, Dr Kurt Häge of Vattenfall Europe in the chair.

VGB alongside EURELECTRIC, EPPSA and EUnited Turbines, are new defining the scope of the Platform. Working structures are now being set up and it will shortly commence operations.
