Mining goes digital: a mobile solution for maintenanceMark Eberlein, Arie-Johann Heiertz, RWE Technology International GmbH, GermanyAs a forward-thinking organization RWE utilizes the benefits of digitalization to make the maintenance process of heavy mine equipment more efficient. As part of RWE’s Industry 4.0. developments, “Asset Care” is a new maintenance tool, jointly developed by IBM, Apple and RWE. The application handles maintenance processes for any large scale mechanical equipment by managing information and processes in a database easy and fast. It supports O&M experts to maintain equipment in time before major damages and downtime occur. Data is displayed, carried out and documented on a mobile device immediately. The mobile “Asset Care”-App is directly connected via a middleware to any database system and does not depend on mobile connection, which allows for both on- and offline use cases. In addition, images and videos can be handled and stored in a project related database, by utilizing state of the art communication technologies. The “Asset Care”-App is equally applicable for any large scale mechanical equipment such as large scale mining equipment, ships, power plants, stockpile or harbor equipment. Benefits
