Dr Michael Fübi follows Prof Dr Gerd Jäger as Board Chairman of VGB PowerTech e.V

Dr Michael Fübi is new Chairman of the Board of Directors of VGB PowerTech e.V. The Board of the European technical association for power and heat generation elected Dr Michael Fübi, with degree and doctorate in mechanical engineering and degree in business administration, Chairman of the Board at the VGB Congress "Power Plants 2013" taking place in Maastricht/NL.
Fübi is becoming successor to Professor Dr Gerd Jäger, who had chaired honorarily VGB PowerTech and the associated VGB Research Foundation for 13 years.
VGB PowerTech e.V. awarded the Clausius commemorative medal* to Professor Dr Gerd Jäger for his merits of innovating power plant engineering and integrating European power companies. With his work, Professor Jäger stimulated cooperation between power plant operators and manufacturers. These activities boosted research, further development, and practical application of power plant technology. He was highly committed to the future-oriented development of energy supply, thereby focusing on technology, economy, and public acceptance alike and with a sense of proportion and view on all sources of energy in an international con-text.
Dr Michael Fübi is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of RWE Technology GmbH. He studied me-chanical engineering and business administration at the Dortmund and Aachen (RWTH) universities. After having finished his doctorate at RWTH Aachen and Jülich Research Center, he joined the energy industry and became manager of well-known companies of the energy business. Since October 2012 Michael Fübi has been CEO of RWE Technology GmbH, which is among the leading power plant engineering- and project management companies in Europe.
VGB PowerTech e.V. is the European technical association for power and heat generation domiciled in Essen. Its 511 members from 36 countries represent power plant capacity amounting to 530,000 MW, 471,000 MW of which in Europe.
*) VGB PowerTech awards the Clausius commemorative medal in honour of the physicist Rudolf Julius Emanuel Clausius (1822 - 1888) who is known as having discovered the second law of thermodynamics and important pioneer in understanding and developing thermal power processes in engines and power plants. Professor Dr Gerd Jäger has been the fourth bearer of the medal which was awarded firstly in 1985 to Dr Karl Schröder (1985), followed by Professor Dr Dr Klaus Knizia in 1992 and Remy Carle in 1996.
