White Paper SSTI - Consideration of possible effects of the operation of HVDC systems in the network on the shafts of turbo sets in power plants

The White Paper was jointly developed by the German Transmission System Operators (TSO) and power plant operators and by involvement of universities and producers.

HVDC Connection Codes in Southern Germany

As an introduction, the current network modifications in the German transmission system are presented in an overview. Further, the processes and procedures for the integration of HVDC systems through exchange of information and cooperation between TSOs, HVDC operators and power plant operators are explained. Necessary analyzes to secure the design of the HVDC systems are described and specified. The White Paper concludes with an overview of the requirements for HVDC control and protection systems.

Thereby the basic contexts of the subject Sub-synchronous Torsional Interaction are described and joint recommendations to avoid inadmissible SSTI stresses are shown.

VGB provides energy-related reading material in the home office

As a consequence of the corona restrictions, a large number of employees in the power industry currently work at home, and thus unfortunately without access to the printed edition of our VGB PowerTech Journal. What could be more obvious than to quickly use the possibilities of digitalisation? In anticipation of an ongoing project to further digitalize publications, VGB offers an online edition of the VGB PowerTech Journal, starting with issue 1/2019.

In order to not only give the existing readership access to our energy and power plant technology information and specialist articles, but also to gain new readership, access is activated for the period of corona-related restrictions via our website. VGB is looking forward to receiving feedback on this offer.

VGB-S-302-00-2013-04-EN - Guideline for the Testing of DeNOx-catalysts - Now available as eBook!

The purpose of this VGB-Standard is to manifest a testing procedure, which can be employed by catalyst manufacturers, SCR equipment suppliers, power plant operators and independent testing institutions for determining the characteristics of SCR catalysts. The most important characteristics are guaranteed in the purchase contracts, deviation from these, which are penalized, need to be manifested under the agreed upon boundary conditions (i.e. testing conditions).

Call for Papers

Call for Papers: Gas Turbines and Operation of Gas Turbines 2021

In the context of the energy transition, the changing requirements in electricity and heat market and the public gas transport network require in a short period of time the adjustment of operational and plant engineering concepts for economical, safe and environmentally operation of gas turbines.

In a wide range of topics, we will address current issues from the operation of old plants, existing plants and new plants, as well as the planning of new gas turbine plants and innovative R&D projects in gas turbine-based energy technology.

Become part of the VGB Conference Gas Turbines and Operation of Gas Turbines 2021 and submitt a proposal for a paper by 31 May 2021.

Call for Papers: Flue Gas Cleaning

The annual VGB Workshop on Flue Gas Cleaning is organised by the VGB TG Emission Control in order to provide a platform for VGB members and other interested experts for information and discussion of developments in pollutant abatement and in the experience gained in operation of flue gas cleaning installations.

This workshop covers all aspects of flue gas cleaning activities for NOx, dust and SO2 removal as well as of online monitoring and instrumentation for emission monitoring.

Please submit written suggestions for papers and lecturers until 10 April 2021.
