> "Terms of Utility Industry" in the VGB Member Area < The liberalisation of the electricity market and the related transition to "market-oriented electricity generation" require criteria for the assessment of these processes. Utilities need new parameters for analysing the aforementioned new processes and for evaluating the technical and economical performance of the individual power plant types. The terms defined in VGB's publication "Terms of Utility Industry" help to evaluate and analyse the complex relation between the single market participants and the chain of economic value in order to ensure economic efficiency. On the following page VGB members find the 7th revision of the existing definitions, and the definition of new parameters for the technical and economic assessment of different thermal power plants (including combined cycle power plants) under the title "Booklet 3: Fundamentals and systematics of availability determination for Thermal Power Plants":

> List of New Power Plants in Europe: Update October 2009 < The list New Power Plants comprises power plants in planning and under construction in Europe. Energy sources like gas, hard coal, lignite, wind, water, waste etc. are considered. Based on the list, the plann d total output (MW) and the portions of the sources of energy (MW) can be determined. Due to political and economic decisions, the list lives with further planning measures and with cancellations. The current list is available in the member area for download:

2) VGB's New Design - www.vgb.org Included Yet

The VGB website presents itself in a new look since the end of October 2009. Now, the five new VGB pictograms representing the technical committees "Nuclear Power Plants", "Fossil-fired Power Plants", "Renewables and Distributed Generation" and "Environmental Technology, Chemistry, Safety and Health" as well as the "Operational Services" clearly visualize the areas of competence of the European Technical Association.

An optimized structure of the website offers faster access to the individual fields of activity - always led by the pictograms in blue (Nuclear Power Plants), orange (Fossil-fired Power Plants), green (Renewables and Distributed Generation), yellow (Environmental Technology, Chemistry, Safety and Health) and magenta (Operational Services).

Besides of the new overall look, the "member area" is included in the main navigation now to ease the web-based work of the committees.

Find out what has changed - we look forward to you!
