Technical competence centre for wind power of VGB PowerTech
- Operators of wind power plants concentrate exchange of technical experience at VGB PowerTech
- Synergy effects and service for the entire wind power business
Leading operators of wind power plants have agreed to bundle their interests under the roof of the European technical association for power and heat generation VGB PowerTech. VGB is cooperating internationally focusing on all technical issues related to the erection and operation of wind power plants. Apart from the exchange of information and experience, the companies involved are aiming at progressing with the standardisation (best practice) and bundling of operators´ interest in different user groups.
Operators are facing new challenges with the growing number of wind power plants in Europe and worldwide. In order to successfully decrease installation and operation costs, while maintaining high safety standards, it is essential to share and jointly analyse operational experience. These findings will form the basis for construction and operation standards (VGB-Standards).
Dr. Hans Bünting, Chief Executive Officer, RWE Innogy GmbH, Essen, emphasized: “With this agreement, the five operators* underline a unique feature of VGB PowerTech: exclusive focus on the technical aspects of the business. Thus, VGB offers a neutral and independent platform in order to sustainably optimise construction and operation of wind power plants in terms of reliability, efficiency as well as safety and health in the workplace and to further increase economic efficiency.”
Ulrich Langnickel, head of the VGB Competence Centre “Renewables/Distributed Generation” added: “All interested operators of wind power plants are invited to exchange experience. Our results achieved yet, like the RDS-PP® – Wind, which is the acknowledged designation system, clearly prove the successful coordination work of VGB PowerTech with all parties involved, from operators to manufacturers and service companies.”
