VGB White Paper "Torrefied / Refined Pellets for Biomass Co-Firing" erschienen

The VGB White Paper gives an overview of the three main refining technologies (torrefaction, steam explosion, HTC) and the advantages and limitations of refined biomass for biomass co-firing in pulverized fuel boilers.

Co-firing of biomass in large-scale coal-fired power plants has well known advantages like the common utilization of existing plants, the fuel flexibility, a wide range of usable fuels together with a fall back option in case of biomass shortage and the attainment of high overall efficiencies. But significant challenges occur while storing large amounts of biomass fuel and co-milling of high shares of biomass in existing coal mills. Refined biomass is expected to overcome these limitations. The VGB White Paper "Torrefied/Refined Pellets for Biomass Co-Firing" gives an overview of the three main refining technologies (torrefaction, steam explosion, HTC) and the advantages and limitations of refined biomass for biomass co-firing in pulverized fuel boilers.
