It´s our objective to support the energy supply system of tomorrow and to support our members in their responsibilities and business. We want to find and implement opportunities to shape the generation of electricity and heat more environmentally friendly, more efficient and more economical. This results in challenges that we will solve with the operating experience of the industry, the experience from planning and construction of the plants and equipment as well as with research and development. We are convinced that all technologies will continue to contribute to progress in energy generation. The shares of the single energy sources will shift, certainly differently worldwide and across Europe. Given the importance of a sufficient and secure energy supply and the technical and natural constraints, a mix of energy technologies is a plausible and reliable option.

But this also means change. However, change is not only a challenge, it is also an opportunity and a call for innovation.

Innovations always accompany our industry, in everyday business as well as in tasks with long-term planning and perspectives. They are an important instrument for reacting to challenges and change processes. Finding, developing and implementing technically clever and efficient solutions is our goal, because today it is impossible to imagine life without safe power and heat generation as well as storage.

Innovations in power and heat supply are therefore the central topics of the VGB Congress, to be held in Salzburg, Austria on 4 and 5 September 2019.

Topical political, strategic and energy sector related issues will be discussed in the plenary session on the first day of the congress.

The second day will focus on your topics relating to:

• Generation and storage technologies for the future
• Flexibility options in generation and storage of power and heat
• Digitalisation in power generation
• Lessons learned in projects and O&M
• Optimisation, monitoring and diagnosis
• Training and education
• Mothballing and decommissioning of plants
