VGB PowerTech: New documentation standards for wind power plants

  • VGB-Standard for the technical documentation of energy supply units
  • Cross-industry standard ensures safe and efficient operation in practice

VGB PowerTech continued to develop a VGB-Standard under the title “Provision of Technical Documentation (Technical Plant Data, Documents) for Energy Supply Units” that has been successfully applied for more than ten years. The current version also takes into account in detail today’s requirements of wind power.

The experiences made by the contracting parties and manufacturer with many successfully completed projects were directly incorporated in the review. The new VGB-Standard creates necessary prerequisites for completeness and topicality of the documentation to be delivered. This leads to efficiency and cost savings for all contracting parties.

Meeting of Power Industry Cooling Water Specialists (PICWS)

The PICWS meetings provide a platform for cooling water specialists in Europe to discuss a variety of topics, to share knowledge and freely discuss the application of (sometimes novel) technologies, operational issues and legislative aspects with their peers. The PICWS activity provides the opportunity to build and maintain a network of cooling water specialists across Europe.

In 2016 the 11th PICWS meeting was held at the EdF R&D center in Chatou, France from 28 – 29 January 2016. In addition to 14 presentations two round-table discussions were held.

VGB PowerTech at a Glance - New One-pager Published

The new one-pager "Being part of VGB PowerTech - Being part of a powerful operators' network" gives a brief overview about the mission, the objectives, the services and the benefit for members of the association.

VGB Innovation Award - Call for Proposals

The VGB Research Foundation has awarded outstanding performance of young university graduates (age limit: 35 years) working in the field of power and heat generation for more than 30 years. For the second time in 2016, we will honour such achievement with the VGB Innovation Award.

The VGB Innovation Award is endowed with 10,000 € and is presented on the occasion of the VGB Congress POWER PLANTS 2016. The work that is to be honoured in this way can relate either to innovation in the operation of power and heat generation plants, or to important new findings in research.

Based on the award guideline, all VGB member companies as well as the members of the Scientific Advisory Board of VGB have the right to propose candidates. Deadline for proposals is April 30, 2016.

Call for Papers - VGB Conference Chemistry in Power Plants 2016

VGB's annual Conference "Chemistry in Power Plants" will take place in Karlsruhe, Germany, on October 26/27, 2016. The conference is a forum for energy utilities and operators of industrial power plants. Operating experience will be discussed and technical developments in the field of power plant chemistry will be presented.

The deadline for submission of proposals is May 13, 2016.
