Impressions
Dear Congress participants and exhibitors,
More than 1000 participants from 29 countries took "Time for Dresden" and visited the VGB Congress, 27 to 29 September 2006.
The Congress motto "Future becomes reality - Investments in new power plants" followed from the previous VGB congresses that outlined the general conditions of the future electricity generation in Europe and clearly indicated to the foreseeable new demand in power plant capacity.
The plenary and technical sessions gave an account on the current planning and/or realisation of new power plants projects in Europe. A view beyond the European nose to South Africa, India and the United States showed that all energy conversion processes are on the agenda.
The accompanying technical exhibition brought together 92 companies on a floor space of 1500 sqm.
For the first time this year the VGB Quality Award was given to Mr Peter Errenst, DSD HILGERS Stahlbau GmbH, Rheinbrohl, Germany.
On the one hand, awareness for the compelling need of quality measures will be created through the VGB Quality Award and on the other hand a more positive and promotionally effective incentive will be created, accomplishing proactive measures to secure and increase quality. Hereby the VGB Quality Award very deliberately banks on outstanding constructive quality measures and not on a black list.
The Saxon state capital Dresden already is a popular destination. Because of its 800 anniversary this year the choice of sight-seeing activities was very attractive and the weather was favourable, too.
The Welcome Evening was doubtless a highlight of the congress and brought us to an organ concert in the famous Frauenkirche of Dresden. In addition to the musical pleasure the participants had the opportunity to comprehend the festive lecture on the history and reconstruction of the Frauenkirche given by Dr. Eberhard Burger in the opening ceremony before.
Already today we are looking forward to see you again in Salzburg, 19 to 21 September 2007.
