This VGB-Standard deals with sampling points, e. g. on pipes, headers, fittings (referred to below as piping components) and vessels/tanks from which process-related information is taken. It serves to standardize the design of these points.
Type, selection and design – especially for determining design strength at temperatures in excess of 600 °C – of the sampling points for temperature measurements extends to the weld connection of the sampling nozzles, the welding in of the protective tube and the execution of the bores.
The requirements of this VGB-Standard, the examples and the non-scale basic layout diagrams deal with sampling points with welded connections, employed preferably for higher pressures and higher temperatures. For subordinate applications, other measurement set-ups with, for example, flange connections, threaded connections or screwed protective tubes also are common; take note of section 4. In these cases too, design is carried out according to section 3. Illustrations are merely examples. For other device types or applications the executions may deviate in keeping with the specific use.
This VGB-Standard also can be applied to nuclear power plants unless other requirements take priority.
