Quality Assurance in the Manufacture of Generators - Print

The issue of quality is of outstanding importance in the work of the VGB association, requiring systematic and continuous attention. The operators represented in the VGB Working Panel on “Electrical Equipment” tasked the “Generators” Project Group with establishing firm requirements for tests during the manufacturing process of new generators and therefore also to an appropriate extent for inspections of generator components.

Special topics were discussed with generator manufacturers and their component suppliers during the project work.

This VGB-Standard is intended to assist purchasers and operators of generators to assure the quality of the generator and its auxiliary systems and components during the manufacturing phase. It sets out the VGB requirements for quality. Manufacturers are also at liberty to perform their quality assurance in a more stringent manner with additional criteria. The measures recommended for verification of quality assurance are based on experience gained from orders with various manufacturers.
