The pre-job briefing and the post-job debriefing are meetings that focus on a specific activity. The pre-job briefing (PJB) is scheduled to take place immediately before the carrying out of complex or non-routine jobs and is intended to ensure that all relevant parties involved possess the information necessary to enable implementing the measure safely, efficiently and without unexpected incidents.
The post-job debriefing (PJD) is held with the relevant parties involved subsequent to the implementing of a measure. The purpose is to gain insights from the work process and devise improvements for future work.
WANO – the World Association of Nuclear Operators – also has issued recommendations for the performance of PJBs and PJDs. Many of these recommendations are covered by specific maintenance regulations, other standards and codes of practice of nuclear power plant operators.
This guide takes into account the practical experience in the conduct of PJBs and PJDs gained by the nuclear power plant operators represented in VGB, and consequently gives the operators the opportunity to incorporate this experience in, among other things, the maintenance procedures.
